When the pictures of the first 10 doctors to die from Covid-19 appeared it seemed unusual that they were all from ethnic minority backgrounds.

But at that point it was not clear if the numbers reflected the fact that a large proportion of frontline NHS staff are black, Asian or minority ethnic (BAME).

Now more detailed data has shown that BAME communities are indeed being disportionately affected by this virus.
