Abstract: The evolution of CMOS image sensors and the prospects utilizing advanced imaging technologies promise to improve our quality of life. CMOS image sensors now dominate the market for predecessor digital still cameras, surpassing them with the advent of column-parallel ADCs and back-illuminated technology, then stacked CMOS image sensors continue to enhance functionality and user experience in mobile devices. This talk briefly introduces the back-illuminated stacked CMOS image sensor accelerating performance improvement through customized architecture and circuit configuration by using the state-of-the-art Cu-Cu hybrid bonding technologies.
Biography: Yusuke Oike is a Deputy Senior General Manager at Sony Semiconductor Solutions Corporation and a Distinguished Engineer at Sony Corporation. He received the Ph.D. degrees in electronic engineering from the University of Tokyo in 2005. In 2005, he joined Sony Corporation, where he was involved in research and development of architectures, circuits and devices for image sensors. From 2010 to 2011, he was a Visiting Scholar at Stanford University, CA, USA. Currently he is responsible for developing CMOS image sensors at Sony Semiconductor Solutions. His current research interests include pixel architecture, mixed-signal circuit design for image sensors and image processing algorithms. He was a member of ISSCC and VLSI Technical Program Committee, and currently serves a Technical Program Co-chair of VLSI 2020.
