How to make a great looking porch swing or garden swing from 4x4 legs and a 4x6 beam. Build this porch swing in just a couple of hours, staining included!. But it will last and stay beautiful for many years to come. Looks great in any garden or on any porch.
This porch swing frame is very strong. It is made from common 4x4 and 4x6 lumber. The 4x4 legs seen here are 90" long. The 4x6 beam seen here is 72" long. With these lengths the porch swing a-frame measures about 74" tall to bottom of beam. Both the 4x4's and the 4x6 just have straight cuts on both ends, so you could have the hardware store just cut them to length so that you don't have to make any cuts. They have been stained here with a Behr semi-transparent "Chestnut" stain. You can visit [ Ссылка ] for complete lists of everything you need to easily make this garden swing.
The hardware used to assemble the frame here:
Qty 2 - 3/8" x 4 1/2" carriage bolts
Qty 2 - 1/2" washers
Qty 2 - 3/8" washers
Qty 2 - 3/8" locknuts
Qty 32 - 1/4" x 1 1/2" pan head screws (spray painted Rust-Oleum "Brown")
The tan-colored brackets are made here in the U.S.A. from heavy gauge--1/8" thick--steel plate. They are high-temperature powder coated. They are so easy to work with, and good looking too. As you can guess from the video, you can assemble the a-frame in about 15 minutes.
