A worm bin perfect for an apartment, college dorm, tiny home or camper has finally produced natural fertilizer & soil amendments in the form of red wiggler worm castings after starting with a tiny population of less than 50-100 worms 172 days ago.
In the 1st part of this video I dig into the worm bin to make sure the castings are ready...Although I could have easily let the worms work the bin for another month, I wanted to count them because I could feel the worm bin population growing each time I fed them. In another video I will restart the worm bin with the left over bedding after I sift the castings.
In order to count the worms, I use the sun to force the worms deeper into their castings while taking the top and side layers off. When I got down to the bottom the worms had formed a ball which helped me count them faster. 90% of the counting is a time lapse with a couple of humorous interludes as I get stir crazy counting all the worms!!!
