Welcome to Portillo's in Skokie on Skokie Blvd! Portillo's is renowned for its delicious food, but my absolute favorite is their Italian beef sandwich. I always get it with sweet and spicy peppers, and I love the bread dipped—it's simply amazing. The nostalgic decor adds to the inviting atmosphere of this place.
This is the first time I'm filming myself eating Italian Beef in real-time :-) !!
A bit of history about Portillo's: Founded in 1963 by Dick Portillo, the journey began with a modest hot dog stand called "The Dog House" in Villa Park. Despite initial struggles, Portillo's determination paid off, and by 1967, the stand was upgraded and renamed "Portillo's." The business continued to grow, adding new locations and even opening the first drive-thru in Downers Grove in 1983. By the 90s, Portillo's had become a Chicago staple, with over 25 stores and impressive profits. The expansion continued with new concept restaurants and locations, cementing Portillo's as a beloved part of Chicago's culinary scene.
