Beginning in South Atlanta, the waters of the South River flow throughout the Arabia Mountain National Heritage Area and eventually empty into the Atlantic Ocean. The river has seen millennia of human activity, and today offers opportunities for fishing, canoeing, and kayaking along its waterways, as well as hiking and biking along its banks. Discover the South River for yourself by taking a walk at Panola Shoals, or by joining a river paddle with the South River Watershed Alliance or Panola Mountain State Park.
The Arabia Mountain Heritage Area Alliance is dedicated to protecting, connecting, and sharing the unique history, rich culture, and engaging landscapes of the Arabia Mountain National Heritage Area (AMNHA) for the benefit and enjoyment of all who are seeking adventure near Atlanta. The staff and volunteer board of the Arabia Alliance work with partners across the AMNHA to ensure that everyone can benefit from the cultural and natural resources of the National Heritage Area.
