Kia Connect with Navigation and Apple CarPlay allows you to stay focused on the road while having access to a variety of smartphone apps.
When connected to your Kia via a USB cable, Apple CarPlay brings the key features of your iPhone to your Kia’s infotainment system.
This is also known as PHONE PROJECTION, which means the screen on your Kia is displaying the compatible apps..
You can use it to access navigation, music, books, podcasts, the phone dial pad and more.
To enable Apple CarPlay on your iPhone, go to SETTINGS…
GENERAL…
then ENABLE APPLE CARPLAY.
From the ALL MENUS screen…
Select PHONE PROJECTION…
On the pop-up window, select SETTINGS…
APPLE CARPLAY… …
And select ENABLE APPLE CARPLAY and follow the prompts.
Connect your iPhone to the USB port using the manufacturer’s USB cable.
When the connection is made for the first time, the system displays a notifications window – review and accept all the terms, conditions and requests on the audio system and phone in order to use Apple CarPlay.
If the iPhone is locked, unlock it, and then consent to use Apple CarPlay.
From the ALL MENUS screen select APPLE CARPLAY.
Now, you can see all the Apple CarPlay supported apps:
You can find your destination using maps, you can play music, listen to your messages, or go to other available apps by choosing the various icons.
You can press and hold the VOICE RECOGNITION button on the steering wheel to access Siri.
To end Apple CarPlay, disconnect the USB cable from the smartphone.
Now let’s review some best practices:
Use an iPhone 5 or newer.
Make sure your iPhone operating system is current and up to date.
And make sure Siri is turned on.
