"Outside before the Thunderstorm. It was blistering cold that day. My hands were literally frozen while recording this. A bit purple looking actually. For sure, this will be a day to remember.
I was lucky enough to capture the ending pretty well."
This is a special one.
As I was digitizing the Steven Wilson album remaster In Absentia by Porcupine Tree, I listened through this classic and of course it's last song, Collapse The Light Into Earth. I suddenly, and I have no idea how, remembered AbstractNumbers' video from years and years ago where she filmed a beautiful storm and had put Collapse The Light on top of it. I found that video on YouTube again and to my dismay discovered that the sound was removed. This was due to the then harsh copyright claims at the time. Well, times have changed since then. In my old love for this pairing, and since she did not have the original anymore, I ripped AbstractNumbers' old video from YouTube and put the digitized vinyl version of Collapse The Light on top of it.
It is the best music video Porcupine Tree never made.
I reached out to AbstractNumbers and she gave me permission to restore the video with sound, as she intended - all those years ago.
Thanks to AbstractNumbers for her incredible footage from that day, and thanks to Porcupine Tree for a sublime track which fits so well.
Please enjoy.
