One of the most common questions I get from people in my comment sections is "Can an officer ask me to get out of my vehicle?" It's actually quite nuanced, but, usually it is legal for them to do so. In my career, I usually see cops say it was for "officer safety" and they suspected the person who was pulled over of ill intentions.
I always suggest to comply with an officer because of the dangers of not complying. I have seen clients be pulled through broken glass and get physically injured all because they didn't listen to the cops when asked to exit their vehicle. Just comply, then contact an attorney later to review the footage to see if you have a case.
