Traveling on Charles Street, Baltimore, Maryland from its southern terminus in the South Baltimore neighborhood to its northern terminus in Towson.

Charles Street is one of Baltimore's most iconic streets. Running from just north of I-95 south of the metro downtown district to I-695 in Towson, Charles Street acts as a bisector to Baltimore City. Multiple universities sit along Charles Street, including Johns Hopkins University, Loyola University Maryland, the University of Baltimore, and Johns Hopkins' Peabody Institute. Across Charles Street from the latter sits the George Washington Monument, the first large-scale monument in America to honor George Washington.

Part of Charles Street from just south of Johns Hopkins University to I-695 is signed as Maryland Route 139's entire length. This part of Charles Street actually takes on more of a relaxed suburban boulevard feel rather than a downtown urban feel like the unsigned southern half.

A trip from I-95 to I-695 via Charles Street takes right around 40 minutes when taking signal light delays into consideration.
