Necessity (Titled by Erica Monroe) /My Song 9.band/ is the main background music for the channel. It was used in many of my older video, (and new ones from time to time) often cranked way to loud, my apologies, I was young. I am releasing it today along with the Ninety-Nine Percent, the main theme for the channel; to one, just have as a standalone video on the channel, but also to combat any potential copyright claims.
I made this track using Garage Band on an iPad, in January 2018. It was first used in "PROJECT - JAZZA SANDWICH" and posted on SkillShare on 3/7/2018, and first published on YouTube on 3/26/2018 when I launched my channel.
Unfortunately, because I used Garage Band, it is incredibly easy to make a track that sounds like something, someone has already made, and vice versa. You are literally just tapping buttons in an app, turning on and off premade beats and loops. And while is it is possible to make very cool and unique tracks using Garage Band, it's also very easy to make very basic and simple tracks that will undoubtedly sound similar to any other "low-effort" tracks made with the same app.
I used the dub-step generator (obviously), and I actually intentionally didn't put much effort into it. I knew if I tried too hard, I would never like anything. So instead, I pretty much used the first thing I made, and was like, "that's it, that's my sound," and I do think it really worked out well.
Thankfully, "Ninety-Nine Percent" has yet to be claimed by anyone, but "Necessity" has actually had several claims over the years. And the songs that the claims say I am using, do indeed sound similar... because they were created in Garage Band, using the dub-step generator. But they are in fact different. (And interestingly, they were all made -after- my track.)
So far all of my appeals have succeeded, and the claims have been dropped. (Pending this most recent one that prompted the uploading of these tracks...) And it even looks like monetization goes into an "escrow" now!?! So once the claim is dropped, you get any money that the video made during the interim. So that’s pretty cool. Hopefully that will cut down on false claims. It should have been that way from the beginning, but, it's just good to see.
With all of that said, if you like this track, you are more than welcome to it. I release it as "CC BY-SA" use it however you like. (download link below) You certainly will not get a copyright claim from me, but I can't guarantee someone else, with a similar track won't try and claim it... so use at your own risk.
