Are these Invasive Asian Lady beetles showing up in your house? Where they came from, why they are in your house, what you need to know about them, and what you can do about them: including a DIY trap that works! These beetles (not really bugs) are non-native invasive species known as Harlequin Bugs, Multicolored Asian Lady beetles, or simply Asian Lady beetles. The actual scientific name of the species is Harmonia axyridis. They release a stinky, smelly, unpleasant exudate from their leg joints when they are disturbed or die. Exudate stains windows and woodwork. They may occur indoors in the hundreds or thousands. Many people report being bitten by them. Pesticide free exclusion and mitigation of these invasive household fall and winter insect pests is discussed.
