4. SOUNDBITE (English) Jonathan Cooper, Associated Press:
“I'm Jonathan Cooper, political reporter for the Associated Press. Nikki Haley has lost the Nevada Republican primary to ‘none of these candidates,’ which is an option on the primary ballot here. It's an embarrassing outcome for her. She will go home to her home state of South Carolina, the next state to vote without any victories under her belt. There were no delegates at stake in this contest in Nevada. But, the voters said clearly that they wanted somebody other than Nikki Haley to be the Republican nominee.”

STORYLINE:
Nikki Haley has lost Nevada's symbolic Republican presidential primary contest to “None of these candidates,” despite being the only major candidate on the ballot.
The former United Nations ambassador opted to compete in Nevada’s state-run primary election Tuesday instead of the caucuses run by the state Republican party. But Haley did not make much effort to campaign in the state and under a quirk of Nevada election law, more voters on Tuesday marked their ballots for “None” over Haley.
Nevada's GOP caucuses are the only contest that count toward the GOP’s presidential nomination but the contest was seen as especially skewed in favor of former President Donald Trump. Trump is expected to handily win the caucuses Thursday.
