The Ulla Johnson Spring/Summer 2024 Collection drew inspiration from the whimsy and vibrancy of Shara Hughes paintings. Session Stylist, Joey George incorporated the collection’s bold patterns, geometric shapes and fabrics to bring the traditional, natural and artful inspiration to life.

Get the Look: Braided Chignon
1. First, prep the hair with Run-Through Detangling Spray to seal the cuticle and aid in glide-through combing.
2. To follow, spray Royal Blowout Heat Styling Shield and Invisible Defense Universal Protection Spray for thermal protection and shine.
3. Next, blow dry hair back and away from the face until smooth.
4. Create a crown section horizontally on the top of the head, then create a vertical side part.
5. On the larger section, create cornrow braids by diagonally braiding away from the side part from the base to the ends of the hair and seal with Gel Sérum Radiance, Magic and Hold.
6. On the smaller section, create vertical cornrow braids to the nape of the neck, and seal ends with Gel Sérum Radiance, Magic and Hold.
7. Next, intertwine the completed braids into a chignon and fasten with hair pins at the nape of the neck.
8. Secure hair edges around the face using Rough Luxury Molding Wax.
9. Set the final look with Imperméable Anti-Humidity Spray.

Get the Look: Organic, Natural Texture
1. Start by cleansing the hair with Signature Shampoo and Conditioner.
2. Next, towel dry hair and detangle using the Italian Resin Wide Tooth Comb, letting the part naturally center.
3. Prep strands with Foundation Mist from roots to ends, and layer with Matte Waves Texture Lotion for medium hold.
4. Finger twirl hair and scrunch sections using the “jump rope method” to encourage natural curl patterns. Let air dry.
5. Once the hair is completely dry, separate the curls using your fingers and shake out the lengths for an airy, organic look.
6. To finish, warm a few drops of Gold Lust Nourishing Hair Oil in the palm of your hands and gently run through to seal the ends and define the natural curls and waves.
