This is part 6. In this video i will show how to solder the coil antenna to the LoRa module.
In this video i am going to answer the question if a coil antenna RSSI is better than a wire antenna RSSI.
If you are going to use a coil antenna what is its best orientation?
To answer this question i am conducting several tests where the coil antenna orientation is changed with respect to the
single channel LoRa gateway. The distance between the gateway and node will be approximately 5m with direct line of sight.
Here are my test results:
Test A, LoRa node with coil antenna perpendicular to Gateway, RSSI = -56
Test B, LoRa node with coil antenna in extension to Gateway, solder point near Gateway, RSSI = -56
Test C, LoRa node with coil antenna 45 deg with respect to Gateway, RSSI = -62
Test D, LoRa node with coil antenna in extension to Gateway, solder point away from Gateway, RSSI = -67
Test E, LoRa node with coil antenna in vertical direction, RSSI = -108
Test F, LoRa node with wire antenna (86mm, 868Mhz), RSSI = -50
