McGuire, MS, MBBCh from the National Human Genome Research Institute shared 'Maintaining Immune Health in Mitochondrial Disease". Dr. McGuire gave insight into the ongoing research to better understand connections between metabolism, infection and immunity for children with Mitochondrial Disease. Takeaways for our Mitochondrial community: Viral infections are inevitable; masking, social distancing and hand washing are tools to help reduce spread. Maintaining immune health through exercise, eating healthy, minimizing exposure, vaccination and specific drugs are ways to improve our wellbeing during the 2022/23 triple threat of Influenza, SARS-CoV-2 and RSV.
