In this video I review the Inovelli Red Series On/Off switch and show how to set it up in #HomeAssistant automations and scene control.
My number 1 rule with my #smarthome is that there must be a manual way to operate every smart device in the house. This way, when guests come over, they aren't uncomfortable with how awesome and smart my house is.
One of the toughest things I ran into with this rule is #smartbulbs. The question every Smart Homer runs into is, should I go with smart bulbs or smart switches? Smart switches offer easy manual and remote control, and sometimes dimming, but that's it. Smart bulbs offer more features like white color temp adjustment and color picking (RGBWW). However, if you put a smart bulb in a light socket, and then you shut off the switch, the bulb loses power, disconnects from the network, and is useless.
This is where the Inovelli Red Series On/Off Switch comes in clutch. It has a feature that allows you to turn off the internal relay of the switch, so that pressing the buttons doesn't kill power to the bulb. Then I used Home Assistant automation to control the now always on bulb.
