Dr. G. P. Singh, Director of the Indian Institute of Wheat and Barley Research (IIWBR) visited GSF Research and Education Centre alongwith Dr. Ravish Chatrath and Dr. Sanjay on 10th April in the afternoon. The visiting scientist inspected the performance of 12 wheat varieties (mostly developed by IIWBR) being compared in terms of growth, productivity, resilience to short term weather abbressions and resource use efficiency. All the wheat varieties are grown on raised bunds and the paddy straw is placed in furrows to check weed growth, improve soil health and to conserve water. The visiting scientists were highly appreciative of the research and development work being done at GSF Research and Education Centre for linking agricultural science innovations to farmers, unemployed youth and students.
