Previously, the party finished their preparations for Kefka's Tower. They fought a few battles at the Dragon's Neck Coliseum. At the Dinosaur Forest, they hunted some dinosaurs. They also got Setzer to do the Joker's Death slot to earn the Master Gambler achievement. Finally, they landed at Kefka's Tower for an introductory scene and an achievement. Now, they will begin exploring Kefka's Tower.

World of Ruin - Overworld:

The party resumes outside Kefka's Tower. The current lineup is Setzer solo.

Edgar unequips his Aegis Shield and Ribbon. Celes unequips her Ribbon and Alarm Earring.

Setzer boards the airship and descends to Kefka's Tower.

Falcon (time 1:33):

An introductory scene takes place aboard the airship the first time the party lands at the tower. Afterwards, the team forms three parties to infiltrate Kefka's Tower. To start, Party A consists of Terra, Locke, Sabin, and Setzer. Party B consists of Relm, Cyan, Strago, and Mog. Party C consists of Celes, Edgar, Shadow, and Gau.

Kefka's Tower (time 3:27):

The three parties land in different parts of Kefka's Tower's exterior. Party A lands in the northwest. Locke equips a Genji Glove, a Ribbon, a Valiant Knife, and a Gladius. Sabin equips an Aegis Shield, a Ribbon, and an Alarm Earring. Terra equips Raiden. Locke equips Bismarck. Sabin equips Valigarmanda.

Kefka's Tower is a large dungeon. The following enemy types can be encountered in the exterior and in the first few caves: Vector Lythos, Primeval Dragon, Great Malboro, and Great Behemoth.

Party A can examine the strobing light just east of their starting position to leave the area. But why, since they just arrived?

Just to the west, Party A rides a conveyor belt south. They then go east and northeast. The chest to the northeast contains a Hypno Crown. This headgear for Relm increases the success rate of her Control command.

A little southwest of this chest, Party A goes west through a door to a cave on floor 3F. They ride the western conveyor belt south. Then, they take the southeastern door.

Party A enters a factory corridor on floor 2F. To the northwest, they open a chest for Fixed Dice. The Fixed Dice deal an amount of damage based on the number they roll. The higher the number, the higher the damage. Setzer equips the Fixed Dice. In place of his Gale Hairpin, he equips the Master's Scroll.

Party A takes the southwestern exit. They emerge in the western part of the exterior. To the west, they go south and enter the next door.

Party A enters a factory area on floor B1. For the moment, they have a dead end to the south. Terra unequips her Genji Shield, Ribbon, and Safety Bit. Locke unequips his Ribbon. He equips a Circlet in place of his Genji Helm. Sabin unequips his Ribbon, Alarm Earring, and Aegis Shield. Setzer unequips his Paladin's Shield and Ribbon.

Switch to Party B. They start in the north on a plateau east of the center. Relm equips the Paladin's Shield, a Ribbon, and a Memento Ring. Cyan equips a Genji Shield, a Ribbon, and an Alarm Earring. Strago equips the Aegis Shield, a Ribbon, and the Gale Hairpin. Mog equips a Golden Shield, a Ribbon, Dragoon Boots, and the Genji Helm. Relm equips Zona Seeker. Cyan equips Bismarck. Strago equips Valigarmanda. Mog equips Raiden.

There is a departure point just west of Party B's starting position.

Strago reaches Level 51.

To the east, Party B goes south. Then, they go west and through the next door.

Party B reaches a cave on floor 2F. In the northwest, a chest contains a Minerva Bustier.

In the southwest, there are two doors. Party B goes through the northern door first. In the room beyond, a chest contains a Pinwheel.

Party B backtracks and then takes the southern door in the southwest. They reach a prison area on 2F that looks like it came directly out of the Imperial Palace. This prison area has its own monster list: Demon Knight, Cherry, Yojimbo, Outsider, and Dark Force. Yojimbo uses Eye for an Eye in response to a killing blow; this can KO a party member without instant death protection.

In the western cell, Party B examines the monster. This triggers a boss battle against the Ultima Buster. This beastie starts the battle with a monologue. Ultima Buster absorbs poison, holy, water, wind, and earth. It uses attacks like Northern Cross, Southern Cross, Thundaga, Blizzaga, and Firaga. If Locke is in the party, he can steal a Crystal Orb or a Blood Sword.

The faster the party defeats the Ultima Buster, the better. Relm dishes out the damage with Quick, then Ultima. Strago does similarly with Quick, then Grand Delta. It's hardly fair.
