An Elephant was saved from bottom of a 20ft well by rescuers near an army camp in Jalpaiguri, Western Bengal. Dozens of people surrounded to watch the operation and get close to the creature. A crane was used with a harness to pull the huge animal out of the well and on to the back of a waiting truck. Officials kept the elephant under close supervision for a few days before it was released back into the wild.
