This morning's rock train slowly grinds uphill as they struggle to pull the heavy 50-car stone train. The prime movers pounding are easily heard in the crisp autumn morning. SD40T-2 #8336 leads long-hood forward followed by SD40-2 #8169 and GP38 #3813. This train originated in Mullins, SC where CSX handed off this train to RJ Corman last night. After running due east to Chadbourn NC, they make a right turn and head south to Conway, SC where they will unload at Vulcan Materials just south of Conway. (They are a couple miles from reaching their destination when this video was taken.) Later this afternoon the crew will have the entire train unloaded and begin the return trip back to Mullins with the empty hoppers. Two or three of these trains run to Conway every week.
