Erich von Manstein, full name but much less known, Fritz Erich von Lewinski was a professional military man. who had become one of the most prominent commanders of the German armed forces (Wehrmacht) during World War II. Erich von Manstein reached all possible military ranks, up to the rank of Marshal in 1942, although he was not a member of the Nazi Party.
