Why do thousands of women drop out of their academic careers every year?
Along with fellow science writer Aashima Dogra, Nandita Jayaraj investigate questions like this through the stories of the women who have defied the odds. The Life of Science is a feminist research and media project on a mission to tell the stories of the 'invisible' women of Indian research. After 50 interviews and a year-long 'labhopping' journey across India, they have just started their second season. Their reports are published every week.
This talk explores their journey and gives a glimpse into the aspects of Indian society and academia that seem to be hindering our quest for gender equality.
Nandita Jayaraj is a science writer who started this project in Feb 2016 along with Aashima Dogra after the two quit their jobs as editors of Brainwave, a science magazine for kids.
