I found it's super easy to submit a fake 5-star review on Amazon.
Why wait on actual customers to find their product and then write a review when they can buy them? It took only 5 seconds to find a company selling Amazon reviews.
How prevalent are fake reviews? You'd be surprised. Earlier this year a British company investigated and found as many as 90-percent of reviews for tech products were written by 'unverified' reviewers.
I did my own research and found fitness trackers from companies with names such as Tuoliwei, YZJ and FSYCQ. This one has 74 5 star reviews. All submitted on the same day.
What's most disturbing is that despite fake reviews being posted, some are "Amazon's Choice" in the product category. This fitness tracker from YAMAY has a solid 4.3 stars and over 22-hundred reviews.
But a closer look using the fake tracker website "Review Meta", shows there are hundreds of "unnatural reviews". Removing those, the tracker has just 235 reviews and a 2.5 star rating.
Beware fake reviews. Search for the product and company outside of Amazon and check out the product using the websites ReviewMeta.com, or "fakespot.com". Don't put too much stock in Amazon reviews, if you can't find the product somewhere else and the company doesn't have a web presence, it's probably best to pay a little more for a brand name you trust.
