Cusco is on everyone's Peru bucket list for many different reasons. For one, it is the starting point for most to get to the infamous Machu Picchu. Whether you are starting in Cusco for a trek, to explore Cusco's surrounding regions like the Sacred Valley or you are getting start of the plane to a train to Machu Picchu. What ever your trip looks like, I highly encourage you to spend a couple days in the heart of Cusco. Cusco is such a beautiful and interesting city. Also, spending a few days in the city to acclimate to the altitude is key. And this vlog shows you the best way to explore the Cusco region to acclimate to the altitude before your trek to Machu Picchu. Which is exactly what we did. 48 hours in Cusco was the perfect way to acclimate to the altitude before our Salkantay Trek.
