Adjustable rear sights on Smith & Wesson revolvers are a bit more complex and difficult to change than those of modern semi-auto pistols. Brownells Gun Tech™ Steve Ostrem demonstrates the RIGHT way to remove and replace the sight blade on any S&W wheelgun with a windage adjustable rear sight. This is a commonly performed task, either to replace a damaged, dinged up blade, or upgrade to a nicer target blade. It’s really pretty easy and smooth sailing – IF you know the tricks Steve shows us. You’ll need two Brownells Magna-Tip® bits: the S&W Revolver Rear Sight Spanner (#080-431-000) and the #210-3 slot-head (#080-210-330). There’s a tiny detent and spring in the sight that gives you those nice “clicks” as you adjust windage. If it gets loose, you’ll never see it coming, so wear those safety glasses! Then follow Steve’s easy steps and get a new rear blade on that Smith.
