Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan delivered an address at the headquarters-apartment of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC),the executive body of the Eurasian Economic Union, as the Union’s chairmanship passed from Russia to Armenia.
In his speech, Pashinyan praised the Eurasian Union as “a successful integration association” and urged to work actively toward EAEU common electricity market.
During the visit Pashinyan also met with Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev to discuss Russia-Armenia trade and economic cooperation, as reported by Russian government’s press office.

ARMENIAN COMPANY HIT BY US SANCTIONS
The US Treasury Department imposed sanctions on a company registered in Armenia, which acted as the main sales agent for Iranian Mahan Air airline in Armenia.
Armenia-based Flight Travel LLC acted on behalf of Mahan Air and “failed to heed our warnings expose themselves to severe sanctions risk”, Treasury said in a statement.
According to the statement, Mahan Air plays “an integral role supporting the IRGC-QF and its proxies in Syria by transporting personnel and weapons.”

HAHN TO VISIT ARMENIA
The EU Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn, will pay a visit to Armenia on January 29.
On the same day, Hahn is slated to meet with Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, and, subsequently, they will hold a joint news conference.
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and President Armen Sarkissian also will receive the EU commissioner.

ARMENIA INVESTIGATORS RE-OPEN PROBE
Armenia's Special Investigative Service re-opened probe into the case of former MP Mihran Poghosyan in connection with illegal business activity.
According to the information obtained by NEWS.am, he has no status of a suspect or a witness yet.
The case in connection with the offshore scandal was filed in May 2016, but was dismissed eight months later due to a lack of evidence.

BOLTON ON CALLING PASHINYAN
US President Donald Trump’s national security advisor John Bolton tweeted about his phone conversation with Armenian PM Nikol Pashinyan.
“I called Prime Minister Pashinyan of Armenia yesterday to congratulate him on his re-appointment and applaud the Armenian people on free and fair elections in December. The U.S. supports his efforts to secure a prosperous future for Armenia,” he said.
