Welcome to my Instructional Video Series, where you will learn to play Better Golf, by learning how to play more Consistent Golf!
One of the biggest faults I see in my students and the thing we spend the most time working on during our lessons is, the inconsistent use of one's body, that often shows up either by attempting to hit the ball farther or from the simple misconception of how the arms and the body relate to each other in the golf swing.
As discussed in previous videos, I view the arms much like the chain of a swing set and the body like the frame from which the chain hangs and swings. If you think back to when you were a child, swinging on a swing, the frame was cemented or staked to the ground, in order to brace itself against the great forces created by a 50 lb toddler, swinging back and forth.
With a golf swing, the same forces are at play, but unlike the legs of the frame of the swing set, our legs are more mobile and only restricted by the spikes on the bottom of our feet. Therefore we have to be more aware of how we control the momentum of the club head and use our body in a more passive manner, in order to maximize the speed of our arms and the power they can produce.
Therefore, in order for you to realize the true potential of your swing and maximize your ability to swing your club with speed, but without sacrificing your balance, you must have total control over your body throughout your entire swing!
One of THE BEST ways to do this is to use the One-Foot Drill. By using this drill, you will get instant feedback if you overuse your body at any point. Do this drill 15-20 times a day hitting a ball or just a tee- if you maintain your balance, swing L to L, and hit a little draw- success!!!
I know my ideas will help you to improve your overall approach to the game, as you increase your consistency throughout your bag.
