This situation feels TOO real sometimes.
Diabetes loves to throw curve balls when you’re not expecting it at all.
It can be really annoying.
Last year, I can remember a concert we went to in Denver.
My site failed right as we got to the venue.
(This was a venue where we needed to walk a mile and go around a mountain, at elevation, just to get into the venue)
I started feeling really lousy, tested, and was in the mid-high 300s….
Fortunately, I DID have my backup insulin pen.
But, my number wasn’t budging and took forever to come down.
By the time it started plateauing and starting to drop, the concert was over.
So the musical experience wasn’t as good as it could have been…and worse yet?
With the walk back to the car, predictably, my blood sugar absolutely tanked into possibly THE worst low blood sugar I’ve had in a decade. (!!)
These situations happen and they happen to the best of us.
It’s not always gonna be fun, but it's how you approach it, respond, and decide how you're going to handle it.
