For our latest Coffee Session we turn to something a little different. Double Bass Jani Pensola has another string to his bow outside of the LSO – his band Tango Alakulo Ensemble.

The band was formed in 2014, making its debut at one of our After Shock post-concert sessions at the Barbican. Tango Alakulo Ensemble is a crossover band whose mission is to revamp tango music by combining influences from both old and new music. In addition to Helsinki and London the band has given concerts in Brussels, Berlin and Tokyo. You can find out more at [ Ссылка ].

In this video the band performs Avicii’s Hey Brother, turned into a Argentinian milonga. The video was filmed all over the Europe: with Jani Pensola playing in France, violinist Christian Garrick in Scotland, pianist David Gordon in England and ukulele & banjo player Jarmo Julkunen in Lapland / Finland.
