The Ward 8 (or Ward Eight) cocktail comes out of Boston in the late 1890s. A simple cocktail of whiskey, orange juice, lemon juice, and grenadine that makes for an easy introduction to old cocktails. The flavors in this cocktail are straightforward, though the orange juice can easily overpower it. Use under .5oz of orange juice and use as high a proof whiskey as you can. The flamed orange peel adds some theatrics as well as a burnt note.
