More than 60% of Taiwan's land is covered by forest, making it among the top ten in coverage ratio in Asia. These forests contain some of the most valuable and rare tree species like camphor and cypress. Their timber is targeted by poachers known locally as ‘mountain rats’. CNA correspondent Victoria Jen sheds light on this illegal trade and looks at what authorities are doing to stamp it out.
