The Sennheiser MKH416 and MKH50 are both incredibly popular microphones that have been used in movies and television for decades. In the past few years they’ve also become increasingly more common on YouTube. So let’s put them to the test and see what their differences are and which one might be the right choice for you.

I really want to emphasize that my goal with this video is NOT to say anything negative about the MKH416. It’s a truly fantastic microphone. I just think that a lot of people, especially solo creators and people working in less-than-ideally-sound-treated spaces, will benefit more from the performance of the MKH50.
