The Statue of Zeus was a giant statue of the Greek god Zeus, which was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The statue was located in the temple of Zeus at Olympia, Greece, and was built by the Greek sculptor Phidias in the 5th century BC.
The statue was made of ivory and gold and stood about 40 feet (12 meters) tall. It depicted Zeus seated on a throne, holding a scepter in one hand and a statue of Nike, the goddess of victory, in the other. The statue was adorned with precious stones, and its eyes were made of glass.
Unfortunately, the Statue of Zeus was destroyed in a fire in the 5th century AD, and today, only a few fragments of the statue remain. However, the ruins of the temple of Zeus at Olympia can still be visited today, and they are a popular tourist attraction in Greece.
