I KNOW THIS IS A "CHEAP CHINESE" LATHE. The point of the video is that this one was not "new". It was a return / used and I paid full price for it ($880 with shipping). Grizzly maintained that it comes that way.
So yes, it is a cheap lathe but it was not inexpensive. I knew this was a low end machine that would need tweaking. I had watched several YouTube videos on this lathe and those machines were not in the condition mine was. Mine came covered in a dark dirty oil and was covered in metal shavings. The gear cover sat cockeyed and there was un-dried touch-up paint or more probably silver Sharpie on the angle gauge that rubbed off on my fingers. The lathe was obviously not new.
I opened a case and sent pictures to customer support. They say that's how they come from the factory. I have 4 other Grizzly machines and none came looking like that. If that really is how they come from the factory and they allow it that is even worse.
