A new prosthesis for a traditional ear surgery is bringing hope to patients diagnosed with otosclerosis, a hereditary disorder that causes hearing loss. Cliff Megerian, MD, Chairman for the Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery at University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio, surgically implanted a prosthesis that repaired and restored 63-year-old Diane Duncan's hearing.
