When a Business Jet Hit a US Navy Frigate USS Stark
On May 17, 1987, a business jet hit a US Navy guided-missile frigate, the USS Stark. That night in the Persian Gulf, the USS Stark FFG-31 was on a routine patrol when she detected a Mirage F-1 fighter coming toward her. She twice radioed identification requests but didn't receive a response. All of a sudden, a missile punched through the hull near her port side, and a few seconds later, another missile struck the same area. Believed to be an F-1, the jet was actually an Iraqi Falcon 50 business jet, dubbed "Suzanna," modified to carry missiles. What happened afterwards?
