The aluminum crush washer used on early OM617 engines has been... troublesome. At least for me.
I've figured out a foolproof way to be rid of that leaky thing, and it doesn't require hunting down a later model filter housing!
The early housings (P/N 615 092 01 08) used the crush washer and a single O-ring, while the later housing (P/N 615 092 02 08) used 2 O-Rings.
By replacing that aluminum crush washer with a rubber impregnated crush washer we get the sealing capability of the later "02" housing without having to swap out the entire housing and bolt.
