Welcome to the part 7 of structure of bacteria series. In this video we discussed about the genetic material of bacteria.
Unlike the eukaryotes, the genetic material in the bacterial cell, is not bound by membrane. The genetic material in a bacterial cell, is either centrally located, or, spread all over the cell. The genetic material in bacteria is also referred with multiple terms as, genophore, nuclear bodies, nucleoid or, chromosome. Usually, two, or more nucleoids can be found in the cell.
