(9 Jan 2018) Crowds of Catholics living in the Philippines joined an annual procession of a centuries-old statue of Jesus Christ on Tuesday in the hope that it could deliver miracles.
Devotees could be seen throwing handkerchiefs at the statue - it's believed that if touched, it can perform miracles.
It was pulled through the streets in a cart by plain clothes police officers and devotees dressed in traditional maroon shirts pushed against each other and stretched hands to get closer.
The lifesize statue, crowned with thorns and bearing a cross, is believed to have been brought from Mexico to Manila on a galleon in 1606 by Spanish missionaries.
Some believe the statue's endurance, from fires and earthquakes through the centuries, and intense bombings during World War II, is a testament to its mystical powers.
