The adventures of Irish-Canadian artist Paul Kane, who travelled across Canada and back with the Hudson's Bay Company brigade trail in the mid-1840s, painting the characters and scenes he encountered along the way.
In Part 15, Paul Kane and the York Factory Express travelled down the North Saskatchewan River and the Saskatchewan beyond, encountering a rescue party in search of the ill-fated Franklin Expedition along the way. They continued on to Norway House, where they met Sir George Simpson, the Governor of the Hudson's Bay Company, and an ancient Inuit man who claimed to have once miraculously nursed a baby himself. They continued their journey down Lake Winnipeg, where Kane witnessed an extraordinary Cree ceremony called the rite of the Shaking Tent.
