What's up everybody it's AJ with etrailer.com Today we're gonna be checking out this Rigid Mount Marine Jack from Dutton-Lainson. For me, a good addition to your boat trailer. It's an entry-level jack, but still gonna get the job done. It's gonna be able to maneuver the boat around. If you need him walking up to your vehicle on. Of course, raise or lower the trailer to get it onto your vehicle or off of your ball mount.
So let's check it out. Starting off with the handle. You can have a plastic cover on there that spins freely. So that's nice that it's not just stuck in place as you turn the handle. It's really easy to turn, you see I'm gonna go clockwise.
It's gonna raise the boat up and you go counter-clockwise and that's gonna lower the boat down. Now it's really easy to use the handle, works out pretty quick. You see, I'm not going super fast just to get to see it moving and going to casual pace. And it still goes up and down very easily and quickly. Look down at the caster wheel, again it's made out of plastic and maneuvers around very easily.
See no problem on this parking lot. This is kind of a smoother surface, but you can maneuver the boat trailer around just a little bit. That's it just in case you didn't back it up all the way you need to move the boat trailer just a little bit. You can easily pull that with that wheel. If you need to move it back or forth to the side to side, you can do that without having to get it all hooked up, and then just to move it a little bit.
Now it is a six inch diameter down here on the wheel. So just keep that in mind. That's the size of the wheel. And I think just roll around a little bit. It's got a little scuffs on there, but since it's all plastic, I think it's gonna hold up for a long time. As far as the construction goes, it's gonna be a zinc plated construction for the jack. That way, you know, it is a marine jack. So it's gonna be around water. It's not gonna have the elements have any issues. It's not gonna rust or corrode on you very easily. The other thing is it has a weight capacity of a thousand pounds. So just keep that in mind with what kind of trailer you're gonna put on there. And what's on that trailer too. We got it fully extended. And with that, you're gonna get 25 1/2 inches. Now that's also gonna give you 15 inches of travel, and this is what it's gonna look like in its highest point. Another thing to note is that at its highest point, the handle just stops. So you don't have to worry about it coming undone or anything. It stops you and tells you that's as high as you can go. This is what it's gonna look like in its fully retracted state. The only real reason it would be like this is, is if you hook it up to your vehicle, we got on a jack stand right now just to show you what it looks like this this way. And it comes up so much because it's not a swivel Jack. So normally you would have to come them this far. You pull a lever and slide off to the side here, but this one doesn't have that. So you're gonna have to fully retract that, anytime you do hook it up to the vehicle, just so this doesn't drag on the ground and cause any issues. The jack is gonna fit on trailer tongues up to three inches wide to five inches tall. And as far as installation goes, it's just a couple of bolts. Some lock washers and nuts, it's really easy. Check out how we did it. All right now we're gonna do a little bit of pre-assembly here before we get it installed. So what I'm gonna do, is line up our brackets and our bolts. It's gonna go and drop them into the top. 'Cause that's what's gonna rest on top of the trailer tongue. And then to help you see I'm gonna kind of turn it this way and we'll take our brackets, we'll go into the top offset hole. 'Cause that's always going to be the top. Set that in place and now come back, to hold that on and our lock nut, that's our lock washer and our nut. Just get it on there just a little bit just so it won't come back off and we can further adjust and tighten, once we set on our trailer tongue. So we're gonna do that on the other one as well. Lock washer and our nut here. Get those started. Now I can set it on the trailer tongue. It's gonna come back here, just a little bit. I wanna make sure we avoid the wiring right there. Have those lined up, this seat just like that. So we're gonna come back here on the bottom side and line up our next bolts. Now we're ready to go ahead and install our last bolt. You see, I already did it on this side just to help hold it so I
