DJI have released the latest and, potentially, greatest pre-made fpv drone ever. The DJI Avata is the Ultimate Immersive Drone Experience in a compact package. But what is the DJI Avata? I'm Phil Meachem and let's talk about it.
DJI have been releasing a lot of high quality products recently and from first preview looks the DJI Avata looks to be at the same level.
And the big sell for DJI here is the immersive flight, when the drone is coupled with the DJI Goggles V2. This combination of drone and goggles enables you to get a live stream view directly from the drones camera back to the wearable goggles.
Usually with fpv drones you would have a camera like the gopro hero black attached to the drone and you would fly the drone itself with a crappy and cheap built in camera to allow you to see where you fly but with the Avata, what you see through the goggles is what you film so you know when you have captured the content that you want and need.
And according to the creative director at DJI, The “DJI Avata was built to awaken a desire to fly in everyone, with immersive flight technology that allows anyone to explore the almost out-of-body experience of FPV flight,”
The AVATA is FPV in almost every way, except you don’t have to build it yourself. The camera gives out excellent quality, and while it may not have a gimbal the camera does tilt up and down and features Rocksteady and horizonsteady stabilisation.
But let's look at the specs.

And I think this drone is a game changer simply for the stabilisation with the RockSteady and HorizonSteady as it seams that you can simply shoot your shots, stick it in the timeline and hit export. No need to stabilise in post from everything I’ve been hearing so far.
Also, the battery looks too do roughly a solid 10 minutes plus depending on how hard to race this thing. Which is not bad for FPV.
So I think we are doing to see a LOT of FPV drone footage in the next few months with the DJI Avata. It’s made a tricky skill way more accessible. And with all the embargo videos going online today, everyone looks to be impressed with this little beast of a drone.
BUT what are your thoughts on the DJI Avata? Worth the cash? Let me know, down below.
