Once a child’s transplant evaluation is complete and all test results have been received, the transplant team will have a selection committee meeting to determine the risks and benefits of transplantation. If the committee recommends a child be placed on the waiting list, they will speak with the family to make the final decision as a team. The waiting list is a national computerized network managed by the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS). Several factors are considered when determining who will receive the next available organ.
