It’s important to consider the way your ice melt will be interacting with the areas surrounding your facility in order to ensure that you’re not harming the environment.
My name is Lisa Nicolosi. During this episode, I’m going to talk about sodium acetate ice melt and its environmental benefits.
Sodium Acetate ice melt is one of the most environmentally friendly ice melt options. It is biodegradable, uses no chlorides, and does not cause corrosion to metals.
It has a melting temperature of 0 degrees and a longer residual effect, so it won’t need to be applied as often as the other types of ice melt. Sodium Acetate is also one of the only ice melts approved for use on airport runways.
It may not be a good option for your facility, though, because it is a more expensive ice melt compound.
