Enjoy the full highlight video of the final day of the freestyle action at the GWA Wingfoil World Cup New Zealand 2023. The Surf-Freestyle competition at the GWA Wingfoil World Tour New Zealand Surf-Freestyle Finals took place at Pilot Bay.
Men’s Round 1 saw all top seeded riders advance, with newcomer Cash Berzolla scoring the highest overall points.
In Round 2, Chris Mac Donald scored the highest points and eliminated Berzolla. In the Quarter Finals, Malo Guenole advanced to the next round with his clean FS7. Alan Fedit defeated Titouan Galea. Ancor Sosa narrowly beat Francesco Cappuzzo, and Chris Mac Donald advanced after a close battle with Bastien Escofet.
Finally the Semi-Finals, Malo Guenole and Christopher Mac Donald advanced to the final, with Mac Donald winning by a fraction of a point after a tough showdown.
After all in the women’s division, Bowien van der Linden and Nia Suardiez advanced directly to the Semi-Finals, with Nia winning the final against Bowien.
Finally the competition now moves to the FreeFly-Slalom discipline, where Bastien Escofet won the first elimination for the men and Nia Suardiaz won two out of three races for the women.
