#funfacts #didyouknow
Why was an ordinary dishwasher executed after World War 2? After graduation, Dorothea Binz's worked as a dishwasher at Ravensbrück, the largest Nazi women's concentration camp. Initially employed in an officer's mess hall, Binz's wilfulness and persistence soon caught the attention of her superiors, leading to her new role at the concentration camp. At Ravensbrück, Binz exhibited extreme cruelty, setting dogs on prisoners to maul them to death and personally beating prisoners to death. Her sadistic actions made her infamous among the camp's inmates.
In the spring of 1945, as the Allies advanced, American and British troops arrested many of the wardens from Hitler's concentration camps including Dorothea Binz and subsequently charged with war crimes. Despite her plea for a pardon, her request was denied. In the spring of 1947, Dorothea Binz was executed by hanging
