While studying abroad on the Vassar-Wesleyan Program in Madrid, Rebecca Dowd ’23 and her friend Amelia wanted to see the Galician countryside and coast. Without a car, that dream was hard to accomplish. In a spur of the moment decision, they decided walking from Santiago de Compostela to the coast would be the best (and cheapest) option.
They chose El Camino Finisterre, which goes from Santiago de Compostela to Finisterre, a town on the Costa da Morte. It’s 90km, which was doable in the four days they had, and would end on the coast, which was their main goal.
