This time-lapse looking southeast at Lookout Mountain and Lookout Ridge was captured during the 2023 Lookout Fire on the HJ Andrews Experimental Forest and Willamette National Forest between August 21st and October 17th. It showcases both natural fire progression, burn out operations, and aerial ignition as part of a wildland fire management strategy. A special thanks to all who worked to protect lives and property, and helped minimize the negative impacts of this lightning-caused 25,754-acre fire, which started on August 8th.
