What is the Visegrád Group? What led to its creation? What are the characteristics of the member countries? How is the V4 relevant today?

Feb. 16, 2021 - virtual conversation on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Central Europe's Visegrád Group with the Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Toronto, Krzysztof Grzelczyk, Professor Robert C. Austin, and Professor Tamara Trojanowska from the University of Toronto, took place.

This online discussion delved into the political, cultural, and economic aspects of the the Visegrád Group from its founding and the three decades that followed. Through 'Canadian' eyes, it assesses the successes and failures of the alliance, examines the interaction within and outside the alliance, explores the cultural dynamics of the four countries, and the future trajectory of the V4.

This event was held in partnership between the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Toronto and the European Studies Students' Association at the University of Toronto.
